Mr. A. Chelladhurai the managing trustee and his six
sons form the Indrani Chelladhurai Charities. The Trust
is in the memory of Baby Indrani, the beloved child
of Mr. A. Chelladhurai and Smt. Lily Darling. The death
of Baby Indrani in 1953, let to the formation of this
Trust. It had a humble beginning of Rs.106 but a true
spirit to help the needy. Soon, the Trust grew in size
and contributed to several social causes and for upliftment
of the poor. In 1992, the I.C.Charities started the
Bell Matriculation School in Palayamkottai with 58 students.
Now, as on 1998, they're about 600 students and still
growing. This school with the motto, "Be Illustrious
, Be Industrious", set high standards for the kind
of education to be given to the students. Today, it
is the only school to own a swimming pool, pioneers
in starting a school Band, multimedia library, a home
theatre for audio-visual communications, trekking, gymnastics
apart from other activities. It also has a mini zoo
for the kids, where the deer is the attraction more
than the rabbits, the birds and turkey. Soon, it will
have its indoor tennis and basket ball court and a closed
auditorium. Another 2-storey building is yet to be constructed.
Our Lady's Mission Hospital :
Shri. A. Chelladurai, the Chairman, contributed the
Rs.3.5 lakhs to CSI Girls School, Sachiapuram for an
open-air auditorium and to the YMCA Sivakasi for constructing
a meeting hall. The company has also donated about Rs.2
Lakhs to the Our Lady's Mission Hospital, Palayamkottai.
This hospital is popularly known as "Mother Hospital
" and has been in existence since 1960.
CSI Bell Pins Indrani Chelladurai Hospital.
In 1997:
The company helped in constructing and donated Rs.55
lakhs towards the CSI Bell Pins Indrani Chelladurai
Hospital. In 1997, it was opened exclusively for children
and women and meant for the poor. It will be a boon
to the poor people. It has about 25 beds, 2 operating
theatre, a neonatal wing, a dental wing, a 24 hours
pharmacy, a lab and 6 round-the clock doctors.
Darling Chelladhurai Hall:
"Darling Chelladhurai Hall" was built for
Rs.10 lakhs and donated to the community of the Idyangudi,
the native village of Mr. A. Chelladhurai.
Several churches had been renovated and few temples
in and around Tirunelveli have been built for the people.
