Mr. A. Chelladurai was born in 1916 in a small village in Tamil Nadu. Even as a boy, he was hardworking and independent. His teacher once said: “This boy does all his own work and still tops his class.“
At age 12, he went to Sri Lanka to study. When he returned to India, he worked at a match factory for ₹10 per month. When they refused to give him a ₹2 raise, he quit and started his own match business, selling handmade matches on the streets.
Later, he entered the fireworks industry and became very successful, even supplying the Indian Army. He also started Bell Pins, which makes everyday items like pins and clips that are now used all over India.
From humble beginnings, Mr. Chelladurai built a lasting legacy through hard work and determination. His story continues to inspire us today.
